CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's soccer team will use its August 30 game against Eastern Illinois to help raise awareness for cancer and those involved with the disease. Kickoff for the contest is set for 12:00 at Krenzler Field. The event will also be a fundraiser benefiting the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute.

The Vikings will wear yellow jerseys to call attention to cancer awareness. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with the proceeds going to the Taussig Cancer Institute.

The game will have a special meaning for the CSU team, after their teammate, Samantha Harris, was diagnosed with colon cancer last spring. Although Harris has been limited in her physical activity she is still an active member of the Vikings soccer team.

"We are grateful to be able to do our part by creating even just a little more awareness and support for cancer research in the hopes that it can help in some small way to develop a cure" stated Head Coach Derrek Falor.

Falor commented on the Vikings connection with the disease, "It's been a unique and challenging experience for our team to deal with since it touched our program so closely. To see Samantha continuously demonstrate courage, fortitude, and positive attitudes every day is uplifting beyond words. It will certainly mean a lot for all of us to take the field on August 30th and play for those who are currently unable."

After the completion of the CSU game the Avon Lake girl's soccer team will face off against Westlake. Approximate start time for the second contest is set for 2:30 p.m..

Ticket prices are adults $5, twelve and under $3, groups of ten or more $3, and children five and under will be admitted free.
