CLEVELAND - Lauren Geiger, a four-year letterwinner at DePaul and a Westlake, Ohio native, has been hired as an assistant women's soccer coach at Cleveland State.

Geiger joins head coach Derrek Falor's inaugural staff as the Vikings prepare for their first season of play in 2004. Falor was an assistant coach for the Blue Demons during Geiger's junior and senior seasons.

"We are excited to add Lauren to our staff," said Falor. "As a former Division I player and a native of the Cleveland area, her knowledge and experience will be beneficial both in the recruiting and training aspects of our team. I enjoyed working with Lauren at DePaul and look forward to seeing the positive effect her enthusiasm and dedication will add to the program."

Geiger, who graduated with high honor in June of 2003 with a bachelor's in psychology, posted 82 saves and a 2.84 goals allowed average in 21 career contests for DePaul and was named the team's most inspirational player for the 2001-02 campaign. A four-time Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection, she was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Academic Honor Society, the National Society for Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honors Society.

Geiger attended Magnificat High School in Rocky River, Ohio and played for the Cleveland Cobras youth select team. Her coaching background includes serving as a counselor for the Soccer Plus Goalkeeper School for the past two summers.
