CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With final exams for spring semester just a week away, CSU women's soccer coach Derrek Falor made a move towards enhancing the depth of his roster for this fall by announcing the addition of three Ohio high school players into the program.

The trio includes Jessica Bound (Strongsville, OH/Holy Name), Lauren Corio (Troy, OH) and Rachel Glennon (Parma Heights, OH/Padua). Corio and Glennon will enter CSU as freshmen with four years of eligibility while Bound will enter as a sophomore with three years remaining.

"We are excited to announce three more additions to our roster for the 2009-10 year," Falor said. "These players will immediately bring more quality to our program on the training field and during game day.

"As we climb up the ranks of the Horizon League in the hunt for that first championship, we have to keep building our roster with quality student-athletes who are selfless, tireless workers, great students and willing to lay it all on the line each and every day. Jess, Lauren, and Rachel do just that and we are very pleased to welcome them to our Viking soccer family."

Bound, a midfielder, helped Holy Name High to a state championship her junior season and earned second-team all-conference honors as a senior. She comes to the Vikings after one year as a midfielder at St. Francis (Ind.).

Corio, a defender, was twice named a second-team All-Greater Western Ohio and third-team All-Dayton area player at Troy High. A four-year starter who didn't miss a game in her career, Corio also helped the Trojans to a league championship in 2008.

Glennon, a midfielder/forward, was a four-year letterwinner at Padua Franciscan High and earned All-Ohio academic honors as a senior. She helped her team to runner-up finishes in the North Coast League in all four seasons, including Regional Championships in both 2006 and 2007.

A biography on each of the three additions follows:

Jessica Bound
5-6 Soph. Midfield/Forward
Strongsville, Ohio
COACH FALOR'S COMMENTS:
"Jess transferred mid year from St. Francis (IN). She's proven to be a very focused player who is hungry to get better every time she steps onto the field. We see her playing mostly in the central midfield this coming fall as she's got soft feet, a sound first touch, and plays well under pressure. Jess is adept at getting off high quality shots with very little prep time or space and will be dangerous from outside the area when open. In fact, at the conclusion of the spring season it's fair to say that she may be one of the best 2 or 3 distance shooters we have on the roster. Jess greatly adds to our midfield depth so we're excited to see how much she will allow us to play at a faster tempo this fall."

PRE-CLEVELAND STATE:
Played 2008 season for University of St. Francis (IN) team that went 13-6-1.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Member of State Championship team at Holy Name High in 2006 that went 17-2-1 record, playing for Brian Michelson... four-year letterwinner and second-team all-conference selection as senior.

Lauren Corio
5-2 Fr. Defender
Troy, Ohio
COACH FALOR'S COMMENTS:
"Getting Lauren's commitment gives us a lot more depth at outside back. She fast and extremely aggressive to loose balls in the run of play and in 1 vs. 1 situations. With the way we encourage our outside backs to get up and down the touchline, her addition to our roster gives us a bit more flexibility in dispersing minutes in order to keep everyone fresh. Lauren always brings a fierce intensity to the field and will constantly push those around her to step up their games."

HIGH SCHOOL:
All-conference and All-Dayton area player at Troy High, playing for Ryan Baker...four-year starter, earning starts in every game of her career...in final two seasons, named one of Top-3 defenders in Dayton area...second-team all-conference and third-team all-Dayton area as a junior and senior...named to Dayton area all-star team as senior when team won league championship.

Rachel Glennon
5-6 Fr. Midfield/Forward
Parma Heights, Ohio
COACH FALOR'S COMMENTS:
"Rachel is another one of those versatile players we like to have on our roster. She really can play anywhere although the most likely place for her to find minutes as a freshman is in the midfield. She's got a great fitness base, is a tireless worker, and is willing to do all the little things that don't show up in the box score. Technically she plays well under pressure, and remains calm in tight spaces. Rachel will be a solid addition to our midfield this upcoming season."

HIGH SCHOOL:
Four-year letterwinner at Padua Franciscan High, playing for Kelly Gray...all-Ohio academic athlete as a senior...voted "Fab Five" by teammates as sophomore...finished 10th in league goals scored as a freshman (9) and also tallied four assists...team finished second in league in each of Glennon's four seasons, winning Regional Championships twice.
