Chicago, Ill. -- Five different Loyola players scored goals as a Cleveland State dropped a 5-0 decision to the Ramblers on Friday afternoon.

"We didn't play very well today," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We played better during the second half than we did during the first, but by then, we had dug ourselves too big of a hole to get out of.

"We only have a day to regroup and get ready for a pretty big match on Sunday at Youngstown State that will help to determine our seeding for the tournament next week. We are pretty banged up right now but I am sure that we will be ready because it sure would be nice to head into the league tournament on a positive note."

The Ramblers opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Alexia Murray scored off a long ball played in from Nina Noll. The goal cames moments after CSU had its best scoring opportunity of the afternoon.

The Ramblers would add two more goals before half, the first an unassisted goal by Stephanie Paulia at 37:32 anbd the second a short header off a corner kick by Jamie Wasielewski.

Amanda Ward (61:48) and Samantha Kufta (87:34) would each add second half goals for Loyola.

Falor singled out the defensive play of sophomore Ashley Spahn as helping to contain the Loyola offensive surge.

"It is hard to think of a strong defensive performance when you lose 5-0, but Ashley continues to do an exemplary job on defense," Falor said. "She has been solid at any position that we have played her this year."

The Vikings struggled offensively, managing a season-low one shot in the contest. Erin Withrow made a pair of saves in goal.

The Vikings close out the regular season at Youngstown State on Sunday (Oct. 30) before heading to Green Bay, Wis. next week to compete in the Horizon League Championships
