INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Kristin Harnest scored a hat trick, including a goal just 2:58 into the match, to lead Butler to a 6-0 win over Cleveland State on Sunday at Butler's Varsity Field.

"I was happy with our effort today, but we weren't able to muster much offense and we continue to make mistakes defensively that cost us goals," head coach Derrek Falor said. "Our youth and inexperience continue to show."

"We played hard for 90 minutes and refused to give up, but we just didn't have the ability to come back once Butler put a couple of goals on the board."

"At this point in the season, you can't base the growth and development of our players based on wins and losses. We have come so far since the start of the season that I am excited about the possibilities for this group in the future."

Butler received all the scoring it needed when Harnett took a pass from Caitlin Gill and scored from the left side, six yards out less than three minutes into the contest. Harnest made it 2-0 at the 25:57 mark when she broke free and beat CSU goalie Ashley Kidwell one-on-one.

Megan Callon (35:31) and Maura Murphy (37:40) added goals late in the half to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 a halftime lead and Harnest (46:49) and Kristen Aaltonen (63:28) closed out the scoring in the second half.

The Vikings struggled offensively, managing just four shots in the match, none of which were on goal. Butler pounded 32 shots with Kidwell recording 12 saves, her fifth match this year with double figure saves.

Cleveland State closes out the regular season with a pair of matches this week, playing at UW-Green Bay on Friday (Oct. 29) and hosting Loyola on Sunday (Oct. 31).
