CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's soccer team picked up a key point as the Vikings battled Detroit to a 0-0 draw in Horizon League action on Sunday afternoon at Krenzler Field.

The Vikings are now 9-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the league, good for eight points. CSU's eight points put the Vikings in sixth place, one point behind fifth place Butler, but three clear of seventh place Green Bay who has five points. Butler defeated Green Bay today, 2-0.

The top six teams advance to the Horizon League Championship.

Detroit is now 12-5-2 overall and in second place in the Horizon League with 16 points (5-2-1).

Valparaiso is in third place with 13 points, while Wright State is fourth with 11 points. Those two teams played to a 2-2 tie today.

In a game that was extremely physical throughout, both teams had a fair share of chances to put a goal on the board with most coming in the second half.

CSU's Kelcey Fischer may have had the best chance of the match with just under two minutes to play in regulation, but her shot from inside the box was batted away by Detroit goalkeeper Nora Abolins.

Jessica Bound has a chance from just outside the box in the first overtime, but her shot hit the crossbar and led to a corner kick. On the corner kick, Bound sent a ball into the box where Frederike Dubeau's header sailed barely over the crossbar.

Abolins made three saves for the Titans, while Becky Williams made four for the Vikings, earning her fifth shutout of the season.

Detroit outshot CSU, 13-8, and had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Vikings close the regular season on Friday (Oct. 28) when CSU plays at Wright State at 7:00 p.m.
