CLEVELAND, Ohio - Behind two goals from sophomore Taylor Vidovic, the Cleveland State women's soccer team defeated Youngstown State, 2-1 in a crucial Horizon League match Thursday evening. With the win the Vikings improve to 9-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in league play, while Youngstown State falls to 3-9-3 and 0-4-2 in the league.

Vidovic's first goal came just three minutes into the contest, as she beat the YSU keeper with a shot from six yards out. Vidovic had the shot at the net after Jaime Avona passed the ball into the box off of a free kick from 30 yards out.

Despite the Vikings playing strong defense throughout the next 30 minutes, the Penguins were able to get on the board at the 34:43 mark when Allison Ludwig beat Becky Williams with a shot from the top of the box. Ludwig's goal put the score at 1-1 going into the halftime break.

Vidovic posted the game-winner in the 49th minute, when she beat the Penguin keeper with a shot from six yards out to the bottom right corner of the net. Jessica Bound recorded the assist on Vidovic's second goal, as she passed the ball into the box from the left side of the field.

The Vikings held a 14-6 advantage in shots during the contest, including a 7-2 advantage during the second half.

Williams played all 90 minutes in net for CSU, making two saves and picking up her seventh win of the season. Nicole Kline and Ali Viola split time in goal for the Penguins, Kline making four saves and Viola making three saves while picking up the loss.

Natalie Daniels and Frederike Dubeau both posted two shots on goal for the Vikings throughout Thursday's contest, while Shea Levi and Kelcey Fischer each added one.

CSU will return to action on Sunday (Oct. 23) when the Vikings host Detroit in a 1:00 p.m. Horizon League match at Krenzler Field.
