FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood's Kelsey Pardue scored off a loose ball in the box in the 34th minute and it proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Vikings to 8-6-1, while Longwood improved to 6-6-3.

Despite the loss, CSU still finished the year with seven non-league wins, setting a program record.

"We were down a few of our key players today due to injuries so we tried a few different formations," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We just didn't create enough chances and had trouble keeping the ball long enough to build an attack. We have three huge Horizon League matches left and we need to build up our intensity heading into Wednesday's contest against Youngstown State"

After a scoreless 33 minutes to open the contest, Pardue took control of a loose ball in the box and her shot to the right beat CSU goalkeeper Becky Williams. It was the game-winner.

Longwood had a 9-5 advantage in shots, including 3-2 on goal. Kyra Byron made two saves to earn the shutout, while Williams also made two saves.

CSU is back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 19) when the Vikings host Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
