CLEVELAND, Ohio - Wright State scored one goal in each half and Cleveland State couldn't generate any offense, falling, 2-0, on a cold and windy Friday the 13th at Krenzler Field. The loss drops CSU to 2-14 and 0-5 in Horizon League play, while Wright State moves to 9-3-2 and 2-2-1 in league action.

Wright State's Jodie Shoaf opened the scoring at the 18:14 mark off an Amy Miller cross from the right side after Jen Hansen intercepted a CSU defender's pass. Hansen played from the middle to Miller on the right side, and Miller found Shoaf in front of the goal to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

WSU's second goal looked very similar, as Miller stole the ball from a CSU defender to create a breakaway. Miller dribbled twice and fed Hansen at the 46:34 mark to give the Raiders the insurance tally.

"There really wasn't any real reason for us to give up those two goals," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We made mental mistakes and they capitalized, but we definitely need to take better care of the ball on our backline."

The Viking offense was nearly non-existent the entire match, with just one real scoring opportunity. Junior Shayna Back had an open goal shot early in the second half, but pushed it just wide of the right post. CSU would manage just two other shots on goal and were outshot, 13-5.

Despite the lack of offense, Falor was pleased with his team's play on defense.

"I thought Abbie (Kakias) and Heather (Rasmussen) played very well for us in the back," he said. "And I thought Allie Riczo did a nice job playing hard and possessing the ball. We played well enough for most of the night to deserve a 0-0 tie."

Sophomores Erin Withrow and Ashley Kidwell each played 45 minutes in goal and allowed one goal, with Withrow starting and stopping four shots. Kidwell had five saves.

Steph Comisar played all 90 minutes in goal for Wright State, making three saves en route to her sixth shutout of the year.

The Vikings will have a week off before playing at UW-Green Bay on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8:00 p.m.
