MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped its conference opener on Friday, 3-0 at UW-Milwaukee. The Vikings were outshot 33-3 in the affair.

The Panthers got on the board in the 18th minute of play on a Ginny Graczyk penalty shot, which would be the only UW-Milwaukee marker of the first half.

"This is the toughest road match in the Horizon League this season," head coach Derrek Falor said. "I thought we did a nice job for the most part tonight, but the penalty shot hurt us."

The Panthers would strike again in the 61st minute off a redirection from a Sarah Teegarden corner kick to make the score 2-0. UW-Milwaukee would add to its lead in the 89th minute for the final outcome.

"We didn't defend well on the corner kick," Falor said. "And it is very tough to come back when you are down by two goals on the road."

"For the most part I still think we played good compact defense," Falor added. "We limited the amount of good looks the opposition saw and didn't give up too many scoring opportunities."

Freshman goalkeeper Erin Withrow recorded seven saves in the loss.

"I thought Erin stayed on the line well and played a very good game," Falor said.

Ashley Walchack led the Vikings registering two of their three shots.

"We have a short turnaround with the game on Sunday," Falor said. "So we will have to pull it together after a long road trip."

The Vikings are back in action on Sunday, October 2 in a doubleheader with the men's team. The women take on UW-Green Bay at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the game Krenzler Field will be rededicated to Judge Alvin I. Krenzler.
