DETROIT, Mich. - Detroit's Mary Parker scored five goals and handed out one assist as the Titans used three first half goals in a three-minute span to run away from the Vikings, 7-0, in the Horizon League opener for both teams.

The loss, Cleveland State's 10th straight since opening the year with a 6-0 win over Delaware State, dropped the Vikings to 1-10 on the year while Detroit snapped a three-match losing streak to improve to 3-7.

"I'm not sure what happened this afternoon," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We trained well all week and I thought that we were ready for this match. Unfortunately, we were never able to put it together defensively in the match."

The match was decided during a 171-second span midway through the first half.

Parker, the 2005 Horizon League Player of the Year, opened the scoring by blasting a shot from 15 yards out past Viking netminder Erin Withrow at the 26:02 mark to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.

Parker assisted on an Andrea DiPace goal less than two minutes later before closing the scoring run by scoring from in close off a rebound of a Alex Moraca shot.

Parker would make it 4-0 at the intermission when she headed home a cornerkick from Jenny Whaley with just 31 seconds left in the half.

Parker, who played all 90 minutes of the match, closed the scoring by heading home a shot off the cross bar at the 71:27 mark.

Detroit dominated play offensively, owning a 26-3 advantage in shots with Parker leading the way with 13.

The Vikings continue their six-match in 13 days stretch when they play at Butler on Sunday (Oct. 1). CSU then returns home for only the third time this season when the Vikings host Notre Dame College on Wednesday (Oct. 4) at Krenzler Field.
