Cleveland State Women's Soccer Welcomes St. Bonaventure to Krenzler Field

Opening Whistle
The Vikings will play their first game on Krenzler Field on Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m. as they welcome St. Bonaventure University. The contest will be the first of eight home games on the year for the Green and White.

Last Game Out
Cleveland State drew with Kent State 1-1 in their season opener on Thursday evening. Mayra Sesmas scored her first career goal in the 50th minute, tying the game at one apiece.

About the Bonnies
St. Bonaventure and Marist battled to a 2-2 tie on Thursday evening. The Bonnies return six starters from last year's team that was 7-8-4 and qualified for the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Series History
Cleveland State trails the all-time series 1-4-0 with the last meeting coming in 2016 in which the Vikings won 1-0.

Preseason Poll
The Cleveland State women's soccer team was selected to finish fourth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, as voted upon by league head coaches, the Horizon League announced on Wednesday.

Oakland topped the Horizon League poll with five first-place votes for 115 points, while reigning HL Champions, Milwaukee came in second with five first-place votes and 108 points.

2021 Season Summary
The Vikings are coming off a 6-11-2 overall and 5-5-1 league mark during the 2021 season. CSU went 3-0-1 over the final four contests of the regular season to earn a spot in the Horizon League tournament for the first time since 2019. During the stretch, the Vikings didn't allow a goal for 458 minutes, recording four straight shutouts.

Offensive Returners
Grace KroskyKathryn Ramicone, and Maddie Young are back after scoring two goals apiece last season. Young topped the team with six points on two assists to go along with her two tallies.

About the Schedule
CSU, which is playing its sixth season with head coach Dallas Boyer at the helm, will play a 17-game slate, with two exhibition contests at Buffalo (August 6) and home against Duquesne (August 13).
