Ramicone Named Freshman of the Year, Gutlove and Young Tabbed to #HLWSOC First Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Freshman Kathryn Ramicone was named the #HLWSOC Freshman of the Year while senior Elena Gutlove and sophomore Maddie Young were selected for the All-Horizon League First Team, the league announced on Thursday afternoon. Ramicone was also tabbed for the Horizon League All-Freshman Team.

KATHRYN RAMICONE | HORIZON LEAGUE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR, HORIZON LEAGUE ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM
Ramicone was on fire to end the season, scoring four goals to go along with an assist over her final three matches, all wins for the Vikings. The Strongsville, Ohio native finished as the top point scorer in the conference with 14 thanks to five goals, which tie her for the league lead, paired with four assists. The freshman, who earned a starting nod as a midfielder in all 10 games, netted a pair of game-winning tallies against Youngstown State and Robert Morris and was responsible for one-fifth of Cleveland State's league-best 25 markers. Ramicone dished out a career-high two assists in only her third collegiate match on Feb. 17 at Oakland and notched her first brace in a 3-0 victory over Robert Morris on March 30.

A Walsh Jesuit High School graduate, Ramicone was a four-year letterwinner in high school and helped the Warriors to a state championship berth in 2016 and a regional final appearance last season.

ELENA GUTLOVE | ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE FIRST TEAM
Rotating between forward and midfielder throughout the season, Gutlove scored a career-high four goals to go with a pair of helpers in her senior campaign. The 2019 transfer out of Butler tied for third in #HLWSOC in goals while becoming one of seven players in the conference to finish with double-digit points, adding a pair of assists for 10 total points. The Canton, Ohio product recorded the golden goal in the Vikings' first home match, a 2-1 double overtime win over Wright State on Feb. 10.

An All-Ohio Second Team and All-Academic Ohio member last season, Gutlove rattled off a program record-tying nine shots in the win over Wright State and ranked tied for first in the Horizon League with 18 shots on goal overall.

MADDIE YOUNG | ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE FIRST TEAM
Young scored four times and distributed three assists during a month-long five-game point streak from Feb. 10 through March 10. With four goals and four assists on the season, Young finished as Cleveland State's second-leading scorer and tied for third in the Horizon League points race. The sophomore forward had a career day in a 3-2 win over Oakland on Feb. 17, factoring in on all three Viking goals with a marker of her own to go with a pair of assists. Young tied Gutlove's program record set earlier in the season with a nine-shot effort against Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 25.

The Ohio University transfer has now appeared in 31 games across her collegiate career, including 17 starts, after appearing and starting in all 10 matches for the Vikings this season.
