KENT, Ohio -- Junior keeper Stevie Holbrook made a career-high 11 saves, including two in the final minute of the second overtime, leading Cleveland State to a 0-0 draw with Kent State on Friday in the Vikings season opener at Dix Stadium.

Holbrook was at her best in the second overtime where the Golden Flashes outshot the Vikings 5-0. Kent State earned a pair of corner kicks in the final minutes of the second overtime, but Holbrook made two saves to keep the Golden Flashes off the scoreboard.

Holbrook, who turned in six shutouts in 2018, posted a shutout in the season opener and made five saves in the second period and a combined five saves in the two extra periods.

Cleveland State, which was outshot 21-6 in the match, mounted an offensive attack in the final minutes of regulation. Essence Canady headed a ball just wide of the goal in the 86th minute and Elena Gutlove nearly tucked a ball into the goal in the 88th minute off a sharp angle shot.

The Vikings were able to muster only one shot in the two extra periods.

Gutlove led the Vikings with three shots, while Canady had a pair of shots. Grace Grant also recorded a shot for the Vikings.

Cleveland State will open the home portion of its schedule on Sunday (Aug. 25) when it hosts Akron at 1 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
