Vikings Fall in Double Overtime, 1-0, at Valparaiso in Regular Season Finale

VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale on Friday night, falling 1-0 at Valparaiso in double overtime.

The Vikings fell to 8-9-1 overall with the loss and finished 4-5 in the Horizon League. CSU will be the No. 6 seed in next week's Horizon League Championship, starting tournament play with a first round match at No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky on Monday night at 7:00 pm.

The Vikings earned a 2-1 double overtime win at NKU earlier this season.

After two scoreless 45 minute halves and a scoreless first 10 minute overtime period, the Crusaders scored the game-winning goal just 41 seconds into the second overtime as Jenny Fassbinder sent a cross into the box where Shelby Oelschlager knocked in her first goal of the season from closs range to the near post.

Jamie Daniels was strong in goal all night for the Vikings, making 10 saves, while Daniels, Marissa Sarsfield, Erin O'Toole, Katie Bainbridge and Sydney McCourt all played the entire 101 minutes of the match.
