Vikings Fall at Kent State, 2-0, in Final Nonconference Match

KENT, Ohio - Cleveland State dropped its final nonconference match of the season, falling 2-0 at Kent State on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings fell to 4-4-1 this season, while Kent State improved to 3-2-2.

The Golden Flashes scored both of their goals in the first half, the first coming just 8:54 into the contest when Jenna Hellstrom netted her fifth goal of the season on a free kick from the top of the box.

The lead was extended to 2-0 in the 29th minute when Hayden Pascoe scored on a header.

Kent State out-shot the Vikings, 19-7, with Ashley Thiss tallying two shots. McKenna Vento, Haleigh Shingary, Elise Sailors, Vickie Havas and Carly Cerny all had one shot.

CSU returns to action on Friday (Sept. 18) when the Vikings open Horizon League play with an 8:00 p.m. EST match at UIC.
