Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Match to Cornell

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Cornell on Friday afternoon in the first match of the St. Bonaventure Alumni Classic at Marra Athletic Complex.

CSU fell to 3-2-1 this year, while Cornell improved to 2-1.

Cornell took a 1-0 lead just 7:13 into the match when Paige DeLoach netted her second goal of the season. Elizabeth Crowell extended the lead to 2-0 with her first tally of the season at the 21:09 mark as the Big Red took a two goal lead into the intermission.

Amanda Gaggioli made it 3-0 at the 64:55 mark with a goal off an assist from Jessica Ritchie.

Cornell held a 15-3 advantage in shots with Elise Sailors, Erin O'Toole and Allie Sieradzki recording shots for the Vikings.

The Big Red attempted 12 of their 15 shots on goal with Jamie Daniels making eight saves for CSU and Jane Piontowski posting one save after entering the match in relief of Daniels with 10 minutes to play.

The Vikings conclude play in the Alumni Classic on Sunday (Sept. 6) with a 2:30 p.m. match against host St. Bonaventure.
