Vikings Pick Up 1-0 Overtime Victory Against UIC On Senior Night

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's soccer team extended its win streak to three matches Saturday evening, notching a 1-0 double overtime victory against UIC. The Vikings are now 8-6-2 overall this season and 3-2-1 in Horizon League play.

Cleveland State's game winner came from Katie Bainbridge in the 105th minute. The goal was Bainbridge's first of her collegiate career.

After playing to a scoreless tie after regulation and the first overtime period, Bainbridge was finally able to put the goal in the back of the net when she had a shot from the top of the box and beat the keeper to the far right side. Haleigh Shingary recorded the assist on the play, her third assist on the season.

The Vikings held a major advantage in shots during the contest, posting 21 total shots to three for UIC. CSU also held the advantage in shots on goal, 9-0. CSU recorded 13 of its shots during the first half when the Vikings controlled play for the majority of the frame.

Allie Sieradzki recorded a team-high six shots on the contest, while seven other Vikings recorded two shots.

Sarah Wood picked up her eighth win of the season in goal for the Vikings.

The Vikings will return to action next Wednesday (October 22), traveling to Youngstown State for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
