Vikings Roll Past Akron, 3-1

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Chloe Fadenholz scored a goal and tallied an assist and Haleigh Shingary and Amanda Sivic added goals to lead Cleveland State to a 3-1 win over Akron at Krenzler Field on Tuesday night.

The Vikings improved to 2-3 overall, while Akron fell to 1-3.

Fadenholz put the Vikings on the board just 11:50 into the contest when she took a backpass from Elise Sailors and drilled a shot from 25 yards out to the far post. It was her second goal of the season.

The Zips used a scoring strike from Sarah Sivic in the 25th minute to knot the contest at 1-1 and it would stay that way until halftime.

Shingary gave the Vikings a 2-1 advantage at the 55:09 mark when she knocked in a loose ball in front of the goal off a corner kick from Katie Bainbridge. It stayed that way until Amanda Sivic took a through ball from Fadenholz and beat the Akron goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season with seven minutes to play.

The Vikings outshot Akron, 15-6, including 9-4 in shots on goal.

Sarah Wood made three saves to earn the win in goal.

CSU is back in action on Friday (Sept. 6) when the Vikings head to Bowling Green for a 7:00 p.m. match.
