CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State scored five first half goals and stayed undefeated at home with a 5-1 victory over Madonna on Wednesday night at Krenzler Field.

The Vikings, who have won three straight, improved to 5-4 overall, while Madonna fell to 3-3-1.

Vickie Havas tallied two goals and an assist, while Amanda Sivic scored a goal and dished out two assists.

The duo hooked up for the first two goals to help CSU to a 2-0 lead 16 minutes in.

Havas scored the first goal at the 11:25 mark when she took a pass from Sivic, beat her defender and scored from six yards out. Five minutes later, Havas played a through ball to Sivic who beat the Madonna goalkeeper from 10 yards out to make it 2-0.

Madonna cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 19th minute when Kelly Capoccia scored her sixth goal of the season, but the duo of Havas and Sivic struck again in the 24th minute to make it 3-1.

Sivic started the play with a through ball from just beyond midfield. Havas raced past the defense, took control of the ball and fired a shot past the goalkeeper for her second goal of the night.

Kaila Sargema pushed the CSU lead to 4-1 33 minutes in with her second goal of the game when she finished off a corner kick. Brittany Koester tallied the assist with a header that Sargema controlled and scored on.

Koester rounded out the scoring with 1:30 left in the half when she headed in a free kick from Taylor Miller.

The Vikings outshot Madonna, 14-6.

Sierra Davis made two saves to earn the win in her first career start.

CSU will be back in action on Friday (Sept. 20) when the Vikings host Ohio at 7:00 p.m.
