CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's soccer team returned home for the first time in three weeks on Friday night and earned its first shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over UMass-Lowell at Krenzler Field.

The Vikings improved to 3-4 this season, including a 3-0 mark at home, while UMass-Lowell fell to 0-5.

Senior Frederike Dubeau put the Vikings up 1-0 35 minutes into the contest when she headed home her second goal of the season. Amanda Sivic tallied the assist off a corner kick.

It stayed that way until two and a half minutes into the second half when freshman Sarah Kaiser netted her first career goal.

Kaiser took a throw in from sophomore Vickie Havas on the right sideline, dribbled a few yards and unleashed a shot from about 30 yards out that sailed over the goalkeeper into the upper left hand corner of the goal.

The Vikings had several chances to add on more goals, out-shooting the Riverhawks, 18-7. But UMass-Lowell goalkeeper Jill Carlson made six saves.

CSU goalkeeper Sarah Wood played the first 63 minutes and made two saves, while freshman Sierra Davis played the final 27 miunutes for her first collegiate action.

The Vikings wil be back in action on Sunday (Sept. 15) when CSU hosts Robert Morris at 1:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
