Cleveland State Women's Soccer 10-Year Anniversary Team

The Cleveland State women's soccer team is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a program in 2013. Over the last 10 years, many players have helped build the program from the ground up. Throughout the month of September, CSU will celebrate 11 of the top players who have been part of the program. The players will be announced in alphabetical order beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and continue on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the month.

PLAYER #2

SHAYNA BACK • 2004-07 • D/F • NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO

Shayna Back is the first of three players on the 10 year anniversary squad that was part of the inaugural season at CSU in 2004.

She was one of the most versatile players to come through the program, spending her first two seasons as a defender before becoming a dynamic scoring threat as a forward as a junior and senior.

After playing her first two seasons on the backline, Back was moved up front to help drive more offense. The results were impressive as Back finished her career with 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. Those numbers rank her third, fifth and fourth, respectively, on the CSU career list.

Her 16 points as a senior in 2007 are the third most in a season at CSU, which included six goals and four assists. Her 74 career games played rank seventh in CSU history, while her 72 career starts are tied for seventh.
