Vikings Drop 6-1 Contest at Miami (Fla.)

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Shea Levi scored a goal just before halftime to bring Cleveland State within 2-1 of Miami (Fla.), but the Hurricanes used four second half goals to claim a 6-1 victory over the Vikings on Friday night.

CSU slipped to 2-3 this season, while Miami improved to 4-0.

The Hurricanes scored 18 minutes into the contest when Ashley Flinn tallied an unassisted goal from the left side. Flinn added her second goal of the contest at the 31:25 mark to make it 2-0 when she tapped in a cross from Tara Schwitter.

Levi sliced the CSU deficit in half with her first goal of the season with just over two mintues to play in the half, but Miam would add four second half goals in earning the win. Flinn scored the second goal of the half to notch a hat trick.

Goalkeeper Sarah Wood faced 22 shots and made 12 saves, her second game of double-digit saves this season. It also improved her season total to 46 saves through five matches.

The Vikings will close out their two-game trip in Florida on Sunday (Sept. 8) with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Florida International.
