Wood Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Wood (Spokane, Wash.) was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in CSU's two wins last weekend.

Wood totaled 20 saves in CSU's two wins, helping the Vikings to a 2-0 start for just the second time in program history.

Wood made a career-high 11 saves in a 3-2 season-opening win over Cansius with the 11 saves tied for the fifth most in a game in program history. She came back with nine saves in a 2-1 victory over Bowling Green on Sunday.

The Vikings are back in action for two games this weekend, staring with a 5:00 p.m. match at Kent State on Friday (Aug. 30). CSU then heads to Western Michigan on Sunday (Sept. 1) at 1:00 p.m.
