CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State picked up a key three points and earned its first shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Green Bay in double overtime on Wednesday evening at Krenzler Field.

CSU improved to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League, while the Phoenix dropped to 3-8-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. CSU's three points allowed them to move up to a fourth place tie in the standings, while Green Bay's one point has them at the bottom of the league standings.

After the teams played to a scoreless tie through 90 minutes and the first overtime, Jaime Avona scored the game-winning goal 1:42 into the second overtime, her fourth goal of the season.

After winning a corner kick in the left corner, Vickie Havas sent the corner kick into the box where Avona headed it past Green Bay's Katy Pilarzyk.

For Havas, it was her league-leading fifth assist and allowed her to move into the league lead with 15 points.

Sarah Wood made six saves to earn CSU's first shutout of the season, while Pilarzyk stopped two shots.

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 6) when CSU hosts Francis Marion at 1:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
