THE FIRST TEE: The Vikings will travel to Macomb, Ill. to compete in the Western Illinois Autumn Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 16) and Monday (Sept. 17) at the par-72, 6,054-yard Harry Mussatto Golf Club. The event will be 36 holes with teams playing 18 each day after a practice round on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: Cleveland State tied for fourth place at the Youngstown State Invitational contested at Salem Hills Golf Course on Sept. 9-10. CSU shot 329 as a team in Sunday's opening round before coming back to card a school-record 320 in Monday's final round. Katie Broere fired rounds of 81-75 (156) to finish in a three-way tie for second place, while Mallory Wyderka recorded her third straight top-10 finish as she tied for eighth with rounds of 79-80 (159).

THE HEAD COACH: Steve Weir, a 2006 CSU graduate, is in his first season as the head golf coach after serving as an assistant coach last season. In his lone season of golf for the Vikings (2006), Weir earned all-league honors and was a two-time Horizon League Golfer of the Week. He was instumental in helping the Vikings claim the 2006 Horizon League Championship as he placed 11th overall. In addition, he holds the school-record for lowest round as he carded an eight-under par 63 en route to a runner-up finish at the Belmont Intercollegiate.

VIKINGS SET RECORDS: CSU opened the 2007 fall season by setting a school-record for lowest tournament score (629) at the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 9-10). In addition, CSU's second round total of 320 was a school-record. It bettered the previous low round of 322 set in the second round of the IPFW Fall Classic on Oct. 17, 2005.

BROERE GOES LOW: Sophomore Katie Broere recorded the best finish of her young career by tying for second at the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 9-10). Broere opened with an 81 before carding a career-best 75, one stroke from tying the school-record, to finish three shots off the lead. Her previous best finish with a tie for fourth at last season's Horizon League Championships.

CONSISTENTLY CONSISTENT: Junior Mallory Wyderka finished tied for eighth at the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 9-10) to post her third consecutive top-10 finish. Wyderka was coming off a tie for sixth at the Loyola Invitational and a tie for ninth at the Horizon League Championships to conclude her sophomore season.

UP NEXT: The Vikings will be out of action for two weeks before competing in the Detroit Invitational on Oct. 8-9 at Western Golf & Country Club in Redford, Mich.
