Katie McLaughlan Signs With Cleveland State

June 6, 2003

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State head women's golf coach Tom Porten announced Friday that Katie McLaughlan (South Euclid, Ohio) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend CSU in the fall. A standout a Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School, she led the Irish to a ninth-place finish in the 2002 OHSAA Girls State Tournament.

"I'm very excited to have one of the area's best local talents choose to stay at home and attend Cleveland State," said Porten. "Katie is an excellent student with a great personality and leadership qualities that will help her to fit right in with our team."

McLaughlan earned medalist honors 11 times her last two years at NDCL, including six times in nine matches as a senior. A three-time team captain, she was team MVP as a junior and earned the squad's Most Improved award after her sophomore year.

McLaughlan's father, Wink, is the P.G.A. Head Professional at The Oakwood Club in Cleveland Heights.
