CLEVELAND, Ohio - Mike Balcar, Nick Paxos and Colleen Miller have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Cleveland State golf program beginning with the 2011-12 academic year. All four student-athletes will enroll as freshmen and have four years of eligibility remaining.

The trio joins Keith Brooks, a three-time first team all-conference selection at Ashland H.S. who signed with the Vikings in the fall, to make up this year's recruiting class.

"I am extremely excited about the classes we signed on both the men's and women's sides," head coach Steve Weir said. "Each player brings something unique to the program and are more than capable of helping us sustain the success we have enjoyed."

Belcar, who played his high school golf at Toledo St. John's, won four events last year to earn first team all-district and all-city honors. After finishing second at the City League Tournament, which the Titans won, Balcar went on to shoot a 75 at the district golf tournament to earn a spot at the state tournament.

He shot rounds of 80-78 (158) to tie for 13th place at the Division I Championship played at The Ohio State Scarlet Course in October. A three-time state qualifier, Balcar finished 14th as a junior.

Paxos was a four-year letter winner at Canton Glen Oak H.S., helping his squad to a berth in the district championship in each of his last three seasons. He earned first team all-league, all-county and all-district honors as a junior and senior, while also winning the Federal League title as a junior.

Paxos, who was also a first team all-league and all-county pick as a sophomore and honorable mention selection as a freshman, was a three-time Glen Oak H.S. team MVP. He averaged 73.5 (18 holes) and 37.7 (9 holes) as a junior and 75.8 and 37.1 as a senior, earning team medalist honors 40 times in his career.

Miller will be the lone signee to join the CSU women's program which finished fourth at the Horizon League Championship with two sophomores and three freshmen. She earned four letters at McDowell H.S. in Erie, Pa., helping the squad to a runner-up finish at regionals and a third place showing at the state tournament her final three seasons. The squad won the District 10 title all three years.

Her 78 was the low round in the field at the 2010 District 10 Championships. She placed fourth in the district as a junior with an 81, while also posting the lowest scoring average on the team in 2007 and 2009.
