CLEVELAND, Ohio - With the 2009-10 season recently completed, Cleveland State head women's golf coach Steve Weir is already looking toward the future with the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend CSU and play golf beginning in the fall of 2010.

Signing with Cleveland State are Steff Camarata (Canton, Ohio/Perry), Micaela Cronin (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade Julienne) and Madeline Kaminski (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade Julienne).

The trio will join Shelly Ford (Jefferson, Ohio/Jefferson Area) who inked a National Letter of Intent to attend CSU in the fall.

All four will enter CSU as freshmen and have four years of eligibility. "This has the makings to be a very solid recruiting class for us," Weir said. "We lose two key seniors off of this year's squad so there are spots in the lineup that any one of these golfers can step in and fill.

"The goal of this class was to improve the depth and versatility in our lineup and I think we were able to accomplish that."

A four-year letterwinner, Camarata helped lead Perry to four league titles and four straight top-12 finishes at the state tournament. The team finished third her freshman year, fifth her sophomore season, 11th when she was a junior and 12th this past year.

The Stark County Player of the Year as a junior and the Federal League Player of the Year her final two seasons, Camarata was a four-time state participant and first team All-Northeast Ohio as a junior and senior. Camarata had a 39.9 average as a senior and won the Stark County Championship as a junior.

Cronin helped lead her team to a sixth place finish at the state tournament last fall and was a three-time first team all-league selection. The runner-up of the league tournament as a junior, Cronin was the medalist in 13 of the 31 matches she played in during her final two seasons and holds the school record for lowest nine hole score (34).

She was also a first team Academic All-Ohio selection as a senior and was also named team captain and team MVP.

Kaminski, who was a high school teammate of Cronin's while playing for coach George Menker, earned three letters in golf. She was a three-time district qualifier and helped lead the team to a sixth place finish in the state her senior year.

She holds the school record for lowest round with a 76 and also competed in track and swimming in high school.

The Vikings concluded the 2010 spring season by finishing fifth at the Horizon League Championship in late April.
