FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Cleveland State sits in seventh place at 661 after the first two rounds of the IPFW Fall Classic. Butler leads the nine-team field at 610, 12 strokes clear of its closest competitor. The tournament is taking place at the 6,102 yard, par 71 Deer Track Golf Club.

Butler was tied with Oakland at the end of the first round at 313, but the Bulldogs responded with the low round of the day -- a 297 -- while the Golden Grizzlies shot a 309 to finish at 622. Loyola is in third at 628.

Linnsey Showers paced Butler, and the rest of the field, with rounds of 75 and 72 (147) to take a three-shot lead over IPFW's Alison Rathsman. Detroit's Mandi Dupuis rounds out the top three at 151. Kristen Obush led the Viking effort with consistent rounds of 78-77 to tie for 10th at 155. Ashley Davidson is five shots back in a tie for 20th.

"I was pleased with our performance today," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "They knew what they had to do and went out and executed in cool, rainy conditions. They did a really nice job of managing the course in the afternoon."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
