FAIRLAWN, Ohio - Cleveland State shot a final round 336 and placed 12th of 15 teams at the 54-hole Zippy Invitational on Tuesday at the the par-72, 6,060-yard Rosemont County Club.

The Vikings totaled 1,015 after rounds of 343 and 336 on Monday.

"I thought we played really well the whole tournament, but especially today," head coach Steve Weir said. "The course was playing extremely difficult today and there were a lot of tough pin positions.

"The last two days are going to pay off in the long run because it gave our players, especially our freshman, a chance to play 36 holes on Monday and compete in a 54 hole tournament. The tournament was a good learning experience for us and we will be able to take some good things away from the last two days."

Senior Katie Broere paced the Vikings with a three round total of 246, carding rounds of 81-81-84 to tie for 26th.

Senior Laren Beese tied for 45th at 252 with rounds of 86-83-83.

Freshman Ariel Sparrow had CSU's low round today with a final round 81, knocking 13 shots off her second round total.

"Ariel had a nice bounce back round today," Weir said. "She really hung in there and put together a good final round."

Susannah Grunden of Bowling Green claimed medalist honors at 226 (77-73-76).
