FAIRLAWN, Ohio - Cleveland State carded a first round 343 and was tied for 11th place after the opening round of the Zippy Invitational on Monday at the the par-72, 6,060-yard Rosemont County Club.

CSU was tied with Bowling Green after the first round, two shots behind Detroit and five behind Ferris State.

The second round of play was suspended due to darkness and the teams that did not finish will return to conclude the second round at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The Vikings were one of the few teams to conclude the second round, shooting a 336.

"I thought we hit the ball really well today, but struggled on one or two of the holes," head coach Steve Weir said. "The course was playing a lot longer because it was so cold and wet, but I thought we did a good job of battling and staying tough."

Senior Katie Broere paced the Vikings with two rounds of 81 for a 162 total, while senior Laren Beese shot 86-83 (169).

Freshman Annie Teicher fired rounds of 89-84 (173), with freshman Lisa Barber coming in at 89-88 (177) and freshman Ariel Sparrow at 181 (87-94).

Freshman Victoria Aseltine, playing as an individual, shot 96-92 (188).

The third and final round is scheduled to get underway on Tuesday at 10:45 a.m.
