FAIRLAWN, Ohio - Katie Broere carded back-to-back rounds of 77 and is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Zippy Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 6,060-yard Rosemont C.C.

The Vikings are in ninth place out of 12 teams, shooting rounds of 325-336 (661) and are just eight shots behind sixth place Ohio (653).

"I was very pleased with both of our rounds today," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "We really grinded it out and hung tough. This is the first time we have played 36 holes in a day and I think they responded really well.

"Tomorrow is going to be a big day for us. We have to be able to go out and play well and prove that we can compete with the best teams."

Laren Beese shot rounds of 79-86 (165) and is tied for 31st place for CSU.

Eastern Michigan fired rounds of 300-304 (604) and holds a 20 stroke lead over Akron (321-303). EMU's Darby Peters shot a two-round total of 144 (71-73) and will take a six stroke lead into the final round.

The final round of the Zippy Invitational is slated for a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
