MUNCIE, Ind. - A day after carding a school-record 316, Cleveland State struggled to find its form and concluded the Ball State Cardinal Classic with a final round 333 on Tuesday morning.

CSU finished 13th in the two-day event which was played at the par-72, 6,248-yard Delaware C.C.

"I thought the course was set up much more difficult today," head coach Steve Weir said. "They had pins tucked away which made for some tricky chips and putts. We didn't play as well as we did yesterday, but overall, I was pleased with the tournament. I was shocked with how low some of today's scores were.

"We have a couple things that we will continue to work on as we get ready for the final few fall tournaments."

The Vikings, who had three players shoot in the 70's during Monday's first round, had only one player break 80 as senior Mallory Wyderka shot 79 to finish tied for 61st (86-79 - 165).

Junior Katie Broere was CSU's top finisher, tying for 43rd place after rounds of 78-82 (160), while junior Laren Beese was one shot back in a tie for 47th place. Beese fired rounds of 76-85 (161).

Akron's Kristin Hill won a playoff over Simone DeSouza of California (Pa.) to claim the individual title. Both players carded two-round totals of 144.

Ball State won the team competition with rounds of 302-292 (594).

The Vikings will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 29-30) when CSU competes in the 54-hole Akron Invitational at Rosemont C.C. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
