COLUMBIANA, Ohio - Cleveland State shot a final round 334 and finished fifth of eight teams at the 36 hole Youngstown State Invitational that concluded on Tuesday at the par-72, 5,932-yard Firestone Farms G.C.

The Vikings opened the event with a 333 during Monday's first round.

"I was pleased with the way we played during this first tournament," head coach Steve Weir said. "We have such a young team so it was nice to finally get out and have a chance to watch them play in a tournament. With such a young team, we will no doubt experience some ups and downs this year, but it was good to watch them have to figure out how to work through some struggles. I'm really excited about this team moving forward."

Ariel Sparrow led the Vikings with a two-round total of 162 (80-82).

The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 11-12) when CSU competes in the 54 hole Bucknell Lady Bison Inviational.
