CSU Opens Fall Season at Draper Valley Intercollegiate

DRAPER VALLEY, Va. - Cleveland State carded a 318 in the opening round of the Appalachian State Draper Valley Intercollegiate on Monday at the at the par-72,5,910-yard Draper Valley G.C.

"Overall, I thought we had a great start to the fall season today," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "Our seniors played extremely well and we got some nice rounds out of our freshmen. Hopefully we will be able to continue this tomorrow and post another solid score."

Seniors Katie Broere and Laren Beese led the Vikings as both carded rounds of 77. Freshmen Ariel Sparrow and Annie Teicher both shot 80 in their first collegiate rounds, while sophomore Victoria Aseltine, who was in the lineup for the first time in her career, carded an 84.

Freshman Lisa Barber, playing as an individual, shot 92.

The Vikings will conclude play in the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
