CARMEL, Ind. - After 36 holes of play, the Cleveland State women's golf team is in fourth place out of six teams at the 2008 Horizon League Championship.
The 54-hole event Championship is being played at the par-72, 5,756-yard Plum Creek Golf Club.
CSU shot a team score of 681 (347-334), five strokes ahead Loyola.
Individually, junior Mallory Wyderka fired rounds of 79-81 (160) and is in fourth place after 36 holes, just four shots behind Butler's Lauren Showers (156). Katie Rogner of Youngstown State and Rachel McHenry of Detroit are tied for second place at 158.
"We didn't play our best in the morning round, but I was happy with how the team came back in the afternoon," head coach Steve Weir said. "Mallory was consistent all day and Katie responded well after a slow start."
Butler owns a six-stroke edge (642-648) over Youngstown State in the race for the team title.
The Vikings will conclude play at the league championship with 18 holes on Sunday (April 27) beginning at 8:00 a.m.
