Galena, Ohio - Sophomore Kristen Obush finds herself in a three-way tie for the lead at the Horizon League Women's Golf Championship Monday after posting a first-day total of 159. After an opening round of 84, Obush cut nine strokes off her score by carding a tournament-best 75 at the par 72, 5,192-yard Royal American Golf Links in Galena, Ohio.
"I can describe Kristen's second round in one word -- awesome," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "She was even through 14 holes and ended up four shots better than any other round all day. I really like her chances tomorrow."
As a team, the Vikings combined for a two-round total of 730 (367-363) for fourth place. Junior Nancy Bowling followed Obush in the standings, carding a 186 (89-97) for 15th place, while sophomore Areial Chapman is tied for 16th with a 190 (96-94).
Gina Abruzzino (79-80) of Youngstown State and Lynnsey Showers (80-79) of Butler hold a share of the lead with Obush, while YSU combined to card a 671 (337-334) for the team lead.
The final round of the Horizon League Women's Golf Championship gets underway Tuesday (April 27) at 8:00 a.m.
