HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State sophomore Ariel Sparrow shot a final round 74, the lowest Sunday round in the field, to tie for third place and earn a spot on the all-tournament team at the Horizon League Championship that concluded today.

The 54 hole event was played at the par-73, 5,884-yard Mission Inn Resort and the Vikings placed fourth of seven teams with a three round total of 1,004 (338-332-334).

"I am so proud of the way this group worked all season and culminated this weekend at the league championship," head coach Steve Weir said. "I have never had a group that worked as hard as these girls and I feel that we have a great nucleus and foundation set for years to come. With three freshmen and two sophomores competing this weekend, we were able to post three solid rounds and it really gives us something to build on for years to come in this program."

Sparrow's final round 74 allowed her to move up four spots to third place overall and make a threat at medalist honors. The Horizon League Newcomer of the Year last season, she shot a two-over par 38 on the front nine and used an eagle two on the par-4, 359-yard 11th hole and a birdie on 16 for a one-under-par 36 on the back nine.

Michele Nash of Butler earned medalist honors at 233 with rounds of 83-71-79, while Youngstown State's Samantha Formeck was runner-up at 235 (74-83-78).

Freshman Shelly Ford placed 12th at 250 (86-83-81), while freshman Micaela Cronin tied for 20th at 256 (84-82-90).

Sparrow and sophomore Lisa Barber were named to the All-Horizon League first team.

Butler won the team title with a 54 hole total of 975, carding rounds of 333-317-325. Detroit was the runner-up at 983 and was followed by Loyola (1,000), Cleveland State (1,004), Youngstown State (1,011), Valparaiso (1,034) and Green Bay (1,053).
