BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State shot an opening round 359 in blustery conditions and is ninth out of 11 teams at the BGSU Falcon Invitational.

The two-day, 36-hole event is being played at the par-72, 5,983-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club.

"The conditions were very tough today and we didn't handle them well," head coach Steve Weir said. "The winds were upwards of 30 miles per hour all day long and we didn't do anything to adjust.

"It was a good test to get us ready for the Horizon League Championship next weekend because we are probably going to be facing the same type of conditions down in Lexington. We have to come out and put some things together and get some confidence heading into the league tournament."

Katie Broere shot an 88 and is tied for 38th place to lead the Vikings as all five players were within five strokes of each other. Lisa Barber shot 89, Ariel Sparrow carded a 90m, while Laren Beese (92) and Annie Teicher (93) rounded out CSU's scoring.

The Vikings will conclude play in the BGSU Falcon Invitational on Sunday (April 18) with the final 18 holes.
