CHICAGO, Ill. - Cleveland State shot a final round 320 and finished in fifth place out of eight teams at the Loyola Invitational on Monday morning at the par-70, 5,553-yard Wilmette G.C.

The Vikings opened the tournament with a 327 on Monday and finished five shots behind fourth place Green Bay (642) and eight shots behind third place Loyola (639).

Eastern Illinois (317-304 - 621) won the team title with Northern Illinois claiming runner-up honors with rounds of 320-313 - 633.

"The course was set up pretty easy so we saw a lot of low scores," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "But today's conditions were rough with some rain and wind and I was happy with the way we hung in and battled.

"Katie and Laren gave us good rounds today and it was nice to have Brittany back in the lineup from injury. We still have some things to work on before the league tournament and hopefully we can come out and play well at our own tournament next week."

Junior Katie Broere finished seventh overall in the individual standings with rounds of 79-77 (156), while senior Mallory Wyderka tied for 16th after carding rounds of 80-82 (162).

Junior Laren Beese was also in the top-20, tying for 20th (86-77 - 163).

IUPUI's Lauren Kuss earned medalist honors after rounds of 75-76 - 151.

The Vikings will conclude the regular season slated when CSU hosts its first invitational in program history on Monday (April 20). The one-day, 36-hole event will be played at Pine Hills G.C.
