MUNCIE, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's golf team shot an opening round 344 and is in 11th place out of 12 teams following the first round of the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Sunday.
The 36-hole event is being played at the par-71, 5,909-yard Delaware Country Club.
"I was a little surprised we played today because the conditions were not very good," head coach Steve Weir said. "Wind chills were in the 20's and it was hard to get anything going. Hopefully we can make some putts tomorrow and put together a good round."
A trio of Vikings, Katie Broere (41-44), Mallory Wyderka (41-44) and Kim Dulski (44-41) all carded 85's for CSU, and are tied for 47th place.
Ball State opened with a 304 and holds a one-shot lead over Longwood (305).
The Vikings will conclude the 36-hole Ball State Cardinal Classic with 18 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. at Delaware Country Club.
