Vikings Finish Seventh at Tina Barrett Invitational

FARMVILLE, Va. - Cleveland State shot a final round 330 and finished seventh of eight teams at the Tina Barrett Invitational on Tuesday at the par 72, 6,067-yard Manor Resort G.C.

The Vikings opened the event with rounds of 332 and 327 on Monday.

"We battled and hung in there as a team today," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "There are still some little things we need to work on and straighten out, but I'm happy with the way we are progressing as a team this spring."

Senior Katie Broere posted a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a 54 hole career-low score of 230 (75-75-80).

"Katie had a great tournament," Miklos said. "She didn't have her best today, but hung in there and battled through it."

Senior Laren Beese tied for 25th with rounds of 83-77-87 (247).

Host Longwood won the event with a three round total of 903 (302-298-303), while Nicole Sakamoto of James Madison claimed medalist honors with a 218 (73-75-70). She was six shots better than a trio who finished tied for second.

The Vikings will play their final tournament before the league championship on April 17-18 at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational. The 36 hole event will be played at the par-72, 5,983 yard Stone Ridge G.C.
