Broere in Fifth Place After First Two Rounds of Tina Barrett Invitational

FARMVILLE, Va. - Cleveland State senior Katie Broere shot a pair of 75's and is in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Tina Barrett Invitational on Monday. The 54 hole event is being played at the par 72, 6,067-yard Manor Resort G.C.

CSU shot rounds of 332 and 327 and is in sixth place out of nine teams after day one.

"Katie was brilliant today," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "She hit the ball really well and is really leading the way a senior needs to.

"As a team, I was pleased that we were able to post two solid rounds. We still have some things to work on, but I think this is a good sign and we are starting to play the way I know we are capable of playing."

Senior Laren Beese is tied for 21st place at 160 after rounds of 83-77.

Host Longwood holds the team lead at 600 and is followed by James Madison (605), Marshall (634), Methodist (643), Towson (652) and Cleveland State.

Mary Chamberlain of James Madison leads all players at 146 (71-75).

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
