FARMVILLE, Va. - Cleveland State shot rounds of 347 and 339 and is in eighth place out of 12 teams following the first two rounds of the Longwood/Tina Barrett Invitational.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 6,076-yard The Manor G.C.

"We battled some tough conditions today with some rain and gusty winds," head coach Steve Weir said. "But I was really pleased with the way we played, especially in the second round. We had all six of our players in the 80's and I thought that was great today.

"We'll come back tomorrow and hopefully put together a solid round and try to move up in the standings."

The Vikings, who totaled 686 today, will begin Tuesday's final round just two shots behind seventh place Oakland and seven shots behind High Point for sixth place.

Junior Laren Beese paced the Vikings with rounds of 81-82 (163) and is tied for 12th place in the individual race, while junior Katie Broere carded rounds of 80-85 (165) and is tied for 17th place.

Host Longwood shot rounds of 301-311 (612) and leads second place Akron by 43 shots. Longwood's Kameron Carter fired 77-73 (150) and is in first place overall.

The Vikings will conclude play in the event on Tuesday (March 31) when CSU plays the final 18 holes. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
