AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State shot a final round 340 following yesterday's 338 and finished sixth of nine teams at the 36 hole Butler Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The two day event was played at the par-72, 5,980 yard Prestwick G.C.
"I really like the direction that this team is taking," head coach Steve Weir said. "You never know what to expect when you run out three freshmen and two sophomores, but everyone has been working hard and wants to improve their games. I don't feel that we are very far off with this current group and if we can continue to work on a few things, this team is capable of putting up some good scores."
Freshman Micaela Cronin led the Vikings, tying for 13th place with a two round total of 167. She followed her first round 84 with an 83 today.
Sophomore Ariel Sparrow carded an 88 today, tying for 16th place overall and 168 (80-88), while freshman Madeline Kaminski notched a top-20 finish, tying for 20th place at 170 (86-84).
The Vikings are back in action on Sunday and Monday (April 2-3) when CSU competes at the IPFW Spring Invite.
