Wyderka Leads CSU In Opening Round Of W & M Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Cleveland State sophomore Mallory Wyderka fired a team season-best 75 and is tied for fourth place at the midway point of the William & Mary Invitational. Western Michigan leads the 19-team field after posting a 311 at the par 72, 6,030-yard Marsh Hawk course at Ford's Colony.

The Broncos lead Columbia by just a shot while Xavier is in third place at 314. Meanwhile, the Vikings stand 16th after posting a 339.

Western Michigan's Laura Bavaird carded an even-par 72 and holds a two-stroke advantage over Charlotte Williams (Methodist) and Sara Ovadia (Columbia). Wyderka capped off her round with an eagle to finish in a three-way tie for fourth another shot back.

"Mallory played extremely well today and put together a very steady round," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "I think we have a good chance to move up a number of places tomorrow if everyone plays like their capable of."

The 36-hole event concludes on Sunday morning.
