AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State stood pat in seventh place at the Butler Spring Invitational. Ball State pulled away to win the nine-team event by 13 strokes at the par 72, 5,445-yard Prestwick Country Club.

The Cardinals finished at 637, well ahead of runner-up IPFW, who checked in at 650. Oakland was third at 654, while the Vikings turned in a 680 for the 36-hole tournament.

Freshman Katie Broere led CSU with her second consecutive 80 to finish in a career-best tie for fifth place at 160. Ball State's Kirsty O'Connor and Sarah Windlan tied for low honors at 156, while Xavier's Lindsay Steiner was in third at 158.

"Katie has been working really hard and is starting to get comfortable with her game and the results are now showing on the course," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "I thought everyone played better today and we're looking forward to a good showing this weekend."
