INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State opened its spring campaign with a fourth-place showing at the Butler Spring Invitational on Monday. With snow in the forecast for Tuesday, the tournament was shortened from 36 to 18 holes. Amanda Glatfelter paced the Vikings with an 81 (+9) to finish in a tie for ninth. The nine teams were competing at the par 72, 5,823 yard Broadmoor Country Club.

In the team race, Ball State carded a 317 (+29) to edge the host Bulldogs by three strokes. Loyola was in third at 331 (+43), while CSU was 10 shots further back in fourth place.

Ball State's Katie Sundberg claimed medalist honors with a two-over par 74, three shots clear of Butler's Paige McCracken.

Kristen Obush finished three shots behind Glatfelter with an 84 (+12), which was good for a tie for 13th.

"I was very pleased with how we competed -- it was great to finish in the top half of the field our first time out this spring," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "Amanda really played well all day long and was very solid with the putter."

Cleveland State heads for warmer climes when the Vikings travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the William & Mary Spring Invitational on March 25-26 at Fords Colony Country Club.
