AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State stands in seventh place after the opening day of the Butler Spring Invitational. Ball State leads after carding a 320 at the par 72, 5,445-yard Prestwick Country Club.

Oakland is in second place at 326, while IPFW sits in third at 326. Meanwhile, the Vikings put together at 344.

Freshman Katie Broere paced CSU with a career-low 80 to stand just three shots out of the lead, while sophomore Mallory Wyderka turned in an 84.

"It was good to see Katie come out and shoot such a low score," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "The weather made the course play much longer, but everyone came out and did some very nice things out there today."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
